You can recognize a slot tournament in a land based casino by the fact that a group of machines will be set aside. Usually there is an entry fee for such events, ranging widely as the size of the tournaments varies widely itself. Small slot tournaments may only cost you ten dollars to enter, a larger event, possibly three or four hundred. A tournament will usually be broken down into sessions, each of which last maybe 15 or 20 minutes before a fresh set of players sit down.

The machines are set up with a predetermined number of credits and each participant in the tournament is to play with those credits and see how well their fair over the time allowed for their session. Winners from the initial sessions go on to the next level of the tournament.
